Avney Rosha, the Israeli Institute for School Leadership, was established in 2007 as a joint initiative of the Ministry of Education and Yad Hanadiv. The institute’s name, “Avney Rosha” (Headstones), expresses the perception of the central role of educational leadership – school principals and superintendents – in changing and improving the education system. The institute is in charged of training and professional development of all school principals and superintendents in Israel, recognizing that their leadership is the key to advancing the education system in Israel. The variety of frameworks and learning processes operated by the institute reflects an aspiration to enrich educational leadership with knowledge, tools, and skills for leading school and systemic improvement.
The Institute was established as a joint initiative of the Ministry of Education and Yad Hanadiv in recognition of the vital contribution school principals make to the quality of educational activity in the institutions they manage.
